Climbing in Todra Gorge is an experience not to be missed, from absolute beginner to seasoned climber, there are routes to suite everyone. A local guidebook is also available to purchase if you’d rather explore the region alone, with all climbing areas being easily accessible from the road. The rock here is Limestone and has friction in abundance and over 500 routes being fully bolted, including the multi-pitch routes!

Details of the routes at the gorge have been published online on the website Mountain Project, found here: where new routes are still being added regularly.

We recommend to buy the official Topo Guide that our partners Aventures Verticales have written. This can be bought as a hard copy directly from the Aventures Verticales shop in Tizgui, from us upon arrival or a soft copy (.pdf) can also be purchased on their website: The Topo Guide costs 25EUR currently and the money goes towards the upkeep and re-bolting of the routes here.

If you need equipment hire for your trip it is no problem just get in touch and we can arrange this for you.

As the climbs in this area are sport climbs, they are bolted and thus quick draws are required to provide a safe climbing experience. The routes are long and we would suggest the use of a 70m rope and 15 quick draws to ensure you have the necessary equipment with no surprises. Twin ropes can also be used if wanting to give longer repels off of multi-pitch routes. Oh and always wear a helmet! A lot of the routes are connected to multi-pitch routes and therefore there is potential that someone might be climbing above you.

The climbing instructors that are available to hire here have a wealth of experience in climbing and the local area including having bolted some of the routes in the region and are fully first aid trained for your peace of mind that you are in safe hands. Each instructor can choose the best climbs for you based on each individuals experience, whether you have never climbed before or are a fully experienced climber and can provide full coaching and tuition to give you a real experience.

The best time to climb in the area is between the months of October and May, making this the perfect destination for winter sun.

Morocco in general is a great destination to make the most of the rocks, be it to climb or to hike, offering all styles including Bouldering in Oukaimeden, Sport climbing in Todra Gorge, Trad Climbing in Tafraoute in the Anti-Atlas Mountains (Jebel el Kest) and even mountaineering in the Atlas Mountains (Jebel Toubkal). Due to the low level of traffic on the rocks the conditions and quality are close to perfect, with sun all year round is sure to please all climbers who venture to this destination.

If you require any information or advice, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will help where ever we can to ensure you can make the most of your time and have the best time possible no matter how tight your itinerary may be.
